18.02>22.05 Exhibition RHoK’s Eye – Impression / Expression
18.02.2022 > 22.05.2022
The Erasmus House & Beguinage museums are hosting RHoK Academie for their new temporary exhibition.
The exhibition RHoK’s Eye – Impression / Expression gives visitors the possibility of seeing the museums’ permanent collections through another prism. A contemporary dialogue with contemporary artists from an art academy challenges one’s gaze in a museum where the past plays a central role.
About the exhibition
RHoK Academie’s “Vrije Grafiek” (“Free Graphics”) workshop offers an artistic dialogue about the process of creating images. The works of art, be they on paper (woodcuts, lithographs, silk screen prints, etc.) or digital challenge the permanent collections of the Erasmus House.
This back-and-forth between eras and representations also sheds light on the dissemination of ideas in the 16th century – something dear to Erasmus’s heart – and puts it in perspective with the viral spread of images in today’s media.
RHoK’s Eye – Impression/Expression: images of bygone days seen through the eyes of today’s artists, or when the eye and vision become light, colour, and creation.
About RhoK Academie
The Etterbeek-based art school RHoK Academie – Beeldende & Audiovisuele Kunsten (“Vrije Grafiek” workshop) is known for the quality of its work and is constantly searching for inspiring and atypical venues to give its students a chance to renew themselves, to think, and to create works of art in different worlds. A score of its students spent several months immersed in the Erasmus House museum familiarising themselves with the history-filled place, its architecture, and its holdings.
